The Perth Art Ball is an opportunity. A chance to put the spaghetti-strapped number, french roll and subtle make-up to the side and push your fashion to the edge…
When you accidentally match the Perth Art Ball Branding…
I like to think of it like Perth’s Met Gala. A chance to get a bit kooky, a bit crazy… have a red hot go at something different.
It’s no secret I like to push things to the edge… so when I missed out on last year’s inaugural Art Ball I was devastated (you can’t beat the lurgy when its got its claws in you – you just can’t… on another note – if you have the lurgy, you should try my broth – click HERE for the recipe).
The Pink Hair
So this year I wanted to go ALL OUT!! I had huge plans of wearing a hot pink wig – and even ordered a couple. But they all looked like I was a Barbie Doll hooker, working the corner for for a serious $10.50.
It was a HAAAARD no.
So when the ah-mazing Ash from Erin Morgan Hair in Subiaco told me about the Evo Hair Fabuloso conditioner that turns your hair pink (or blue… or green… or purple) for a good time and not a long time – I WAS IN!
It literally took less than an hour in the chair and it was like getting your hair conditioned with a treatment.
BOOM! Pink hair for the Art Ball.
I’m not gonna lie – I’ve been various shades of pink to blush for a couple of weeks. but I also didn’t really try hard to get it out (I dawdled on the washes) – I thought pink actually made my skin tone better!

The Banging Frock
I am also completely ridiculous when it comes to picking an outfit. I had the kooky hair and bold make-up sorted – but I hate spending a squillion dollars for ONE NIGHT OUT – and to be honest, now that I Instagram EVERYTHING – everyone has seen my frock options 800 times before. Ugh. The effort.
Hello The Volte.
The Volte is an idea by a group of sassy and stylish Perth ladies who thought we all need to put our wardrobes to good work and also have a squillion options available to us whenever we go out. How does it work? Think of it like an Uber wardrobe. I have about eight amazing dresses in my wardrobe that I wear once a year – if I’m lucky. BUT, now they’re listed on The Volte, with many, many other girls wardrobes.
So not only is my wardrobe making me money. I can have access to many other ladies fancy frocks and bags as well.
So I hired this sassy black number and within two days it arrived at my door.
Literally. At. My. Front. Door.
I didn’t even need to dry-clean it. I just popped it back in the box and it was picked up on Monday. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.
Seriously the EASIEST ball dress shopping I’ve ever done.
Be the Kooky One
I have to say, I was in awe of the supreme effort most of the crowd made – people had crazy hair and head-dresses – funky make-up and wild sparkly, fluffy frocks. If you have the chance to go to the Art Ball in May 2018 – make sure you live outside ‘beige’.
Maybe try a little pink!

My pink hair and dress were sponsored by Erin Morgan Hair and The Volte. My opinions and recommendations are my own. I wanted pink hair and I found the fabulous dress and selected it on my own for the Perth Art Ball.
