Romance Was Born x TST

Feb 25 2016 by Bev & Nic

Everyone knows we LOVE a good shop (it’s our cardio), so when Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City asked us to spend some time with coveted designers, Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett from Romance Was Born ahead of their one day flash sale we couldn’t say YES fast enough!

We love their bold prints, embellishments and strong sense of Australian style. And yes, of course we wanted to check out the flash sale before anyone else… #lucky

Romance was Born

Anna & Luke from Romance Was Born.

TST: How did your journey into fashion together begin?

RwB: We met while we were studying at college and started collaborating together on different assignments and projects. Then we entered an international design competition and were selected to go to Italy, so that kick started our idea of doing a label together.

TST: What do you love the most about working together?

RwB: It’s great to share our ideas and inspirations, we get a lot of satisfaction when things come back that we have lamented over for so long and its successful. We are a lot about our vibe and energy at the time.

TST: Tell us about the label’s name…

RwB: Luke’s cousin had a badge with Romance Was Born on it with holographic stars and rainbow hearts…it seemed pretty spot on for us!

TST: What inspires you – is it different for every collection?

RwB: Each season something new, but art is a major influence.  We are thinking about who the girl is who would wear the pieces we design, so often its our friends or muses.

TST: How excited are you to be the Ambassador’s at the City of Joondalup’s Urban Couture festival?

RwB: Its a great opportunity for us to hopefully inspire a new breed of creatives and encourage them to express themselves and follow their own path.

TST: Have you been to Perth before?

RwB: We came about five years ago for a talk we were invited for, but we’re looking forward to seeing how much the city’s changed and grown and to reconnect with some of our stockists.

TST: What can people expect from your pop-up shop at Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City?

RwB: We’ll have all of what’s still available from our Spring and Summer collections from last year. It’s rare for consumers to see the full collection, so hopefully that will be exciting.

TST: What collections are you bringing with you?

RwB: Opal Romance and Cooee.

TST: What kind of price point can people expect?

RwB: Between $80 to $350. All stock will be 50% off it’s standard RRP.

TST: What are you most looking forward to about being part of Urban Couture?

RwB: We can’t wait to see the creations that the students have made for the runway presentation.

TST: Who is the Romance Was Born woman?

RwB: She is creative, curious, romantic, eclectic, spontaneous, and whimsical.
