Here in Perth we’ve had a sharp change in the weather. For the past three nights its been just a whisper over two degrees overnight. In Perth terms, that’s pretty much the Ice Age.
With a sharp change in temperature, comes the associated change in our skin… it has a freaky-freak-out.
Mine is itchy and dehydrated, with my quaint little laugh lines now eroding ravines stretching from my eyes to my hairline.
To say I have an addiction for the next big skincare miracle is an understatement.
It does what?? Makes me look like Charlize Theron?? At 21??
But I do have a few tried and true favourites that I’ve stuck to for more than a few years now.
Welcome, to my TST top five beauty products…
SODASHI Clay Cleanser with Lavender
I’ve used my Sodashi Lavender Clay Cleanser for longer that I can remember. It’s super gentle and gets rid of every smidge of make-up. Even that tricky mascara that still hangs around with most other cleansers. One of my gal-pals recently went on an AHA binge that promptly left her face snowing and her normal products stung like tiny bees on her face. I gave her my Sodashi cleanser to try and she’s sold.
Sodashi Clay Cleanser with Lavender, $80.70/200ml.
SKINCEUTICALS Phloretin CF
When us fabulous ladies hit a certain age, it becomes painfully clear that a normal moisturiser just doesn’t cut the mustard. I call it the “face-slippage” era and it’s when we need to pull out some big guns… ACTIVATED products.
I’ve been using the Skinceuticals Phloretin CF for just under a year now and I love it. It protects my face against environmental nasties and acts to brighten up my skin. Winning.
Skinceuticals Phloretin CF $198 / 30ml.
JURLIQUE Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum
I actually use this morning and night under my activated serums and face creams. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to layer up your serums, especially if they are full of organic and natural goodness – but keep the active ones to one in the AM and one in the PM.
I’m currently doing some investigating into a bangin’ night time Rentin-A product too; I think it’s time to really throw all the pies at this face of mine. Stay tuned…
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Serum $75 / 30ml.
SODASHI Nourishing Repair Treatment
This luxurious night cream is one of the only I’ve found that is super hydrating and creamy without being greasy. I love it so much I want to eat it.
It looks like butter… and smells amaze… plus its natural and organic. Maybe I could spread it on some toast?
Sodashi Nourishing Repair Treatment $130.70 / 50ml.
AESOP Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm
You know that itchy-scratchy feeling you get right in the middle of your back after you’ve had a shower? Am I the only one?? Well I don’t get it when I’m using this cream. And although I may have told a slight porky at the start of this story when I said I use these products all the time – I use this product SOME of the time. I would totally use this every single day… but its just over 100 clams for 500ml and sometimes when I have to weigh up spendage, it falls out of the trolley. But I love it. Beauty is pain.
Aesop Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm $103 / 500ml.
Not strictly a product… well not even un-strictly, but I love my Clarisonic Mia facial brush. I’ve used it most mornings for nearly two years now with my Sodashi Lavender Clay Cleanser and I swear it has reduced my pore sizes and improved the texture of my skin. I heart it. And Bev has one too.
Clarisonic Mia $139.
Confession: Even though I would argue my skin freak-a-thon had nothing to do with the 12 or so ‘fun-sized’ Boost bars my considerate husband left in the fridge this week (saboteur!!). It just so happens a good skin care regime may* also lessen the impact of dodgy chocolate addictions and after-footy whoppers.
* I may have made that up… but it certainly feels true.
